Regional Videography Costs
In the UK, the cost of wedding videography varies significantly by region. London, known for its higher living costs, also leads in videography prices, reflecting the demand and cost of doing business in the capital.
Conversely, regions like the North of England and Scotland offer more affordable options without compromising on quality. These regional price differences are influenced by factors such as local market competition and operational costs.
Understanding these variations is key for couples to budget effectively and find the right balance between cost and quality for their wedding videography needs.
It does also give you some flexibility in your budget, a lot of videographers will cover a wide area, or like myself cover Destinations and Elopements which means I will quite literally travel anywhere, however, it is worth bearing in mind that it is unlikely someone will travel a long distance without an additional charge.
So How Much Does a Videographer Cost?
As a general rule expect to pay between £1500 - £3500 for your wedding videographer.
As discussed above this may vary regionally and based on experience levels, but this is a good figure to have in mind when searching for your 2024 videographer.
Understanding Wedding Videography Packages
A wedding video is more than a record of the event; it's a cinematic story that reflects the beauty and spirit of your day, it's also something you will keep forever so it's important to understand what your investment covers.
When choosing a wedding videographer, understanding the different packages offered is crucial. Generally, packages vary from basic to premium, each offering distinct features. Basic packages often include a set number of hours of coverage, a highlight reel, and a single videographer. Premium packages, on the other hand, may offer additional hours, multiple cameramen, and more extensive editing options, including drone footage and same-day edits.
Double check with your videographer exactly what you are getting for your money, it is not uncommon and in fact is becoming standard practice for a lot of videographers to only offer a short highlight film unless you request (and pay for) additional footage.

Alchemist - Standard Wedding Videography Package
This is my entry-level package and covers the biggest aspects of your day which is the ceremony up until the first dance. If you opt for this package you will receive your cinematic film, often referred to as the highlights film and your full family film - this is your full film of the day including the ceremony and speeches in full.
Alchemist - Feature Length Wedding Videography Package
This is definitely my most popular videography package with my couples. Covering bridal prep (and groom) and all aspects of your big day, it also incorporates drone footage which is a highly requested element in my films.
As with my standard package you will receive your beautiful cinematic film and your full film, something which I've started to affectionately call the family edit!
Alchemist - Spielberg Wedding Videography Package
This is the package for the couples who want it all. Not only do you get me, and everything included in the Feature Length package but you also get a second videographer, multiple highlight films, and a director's cut!
All of my packages include a pre-wedding consultation and this allows me to get to know you both better, the key moments you want captured, and anything else you may like to discuss. You can schedule yours here.
Additional Cost and Considerations
Beyond the basic package costs, there are additional expenses that couples should consider when hiring a wedding videographer. Travel expenses can significantly impact the overall cost, especially if the videographer is not local to the wedding venue. Special requests like drone footage or additional days of shooting, such as for pre-wedding events, also add to the cost. Furthermore, couples should account for post-production edits, which can vary in complexity and price. Understanding these potential extra costs is essential for accurate budgeting and avoiding unexpected expenses.
Travel Costs
Most videographers will have a standard area or radius they will cover. If your wedding involves longer than normal travel times there may be an additional charge or even overnight accommodation needs.
Added Extras
Understand exactly what is covered by your videography package. Additional extras such as drone footage, multiple videographers, pre-wedding day filming, or additional filming hours may incur additional costs.
Editing and Delivery
Understand how your videographer deals with editing and delivery of your film. Delivery may be purely digital or may include other mediums - be sure to check.
Most videographers' editing is included in the price of the package, just like it is for mine. However, I did hear a horror story of a couple who were charged extra to actually edit their film, apparently, the package they had chosen included filming but not the actual creation of the film! I personally believe this is very rare, and haven't heard of anyone else having a similar issue.
