About The Great Barn

The Great Barn, nestled on the Northamptonshire/Oxfordshire border near Aynho, is a captivating wedding venue that blends historical elegance with modern sophistication. This 18th-century barn, part of The Cartwright Estate, is renowned for its rustic charm, featuring thick Cotswold stone walls and exposed oak beams. The venue, set within a sprawling 250-acre farming estate, offers a magical and spacious setting for both wedding ceremonies and receptions.

The Great Barn, Aynho is one of the venues closest to where I live. With its romantic rustic charm, it's easy to see why it's such a popular venue with couples. It's a magical venue and one I always enjoy filming at, the grounds are particularly beautiful during the spring months and I love getting some shots in the grounds.

Why It's A Great Wedding Venue

The barn's interior is a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary style, with high ceilings and soft lighting that accentuates its original timber framework. This creates an enchanting atmosphere, perfect for celebrating special moments. The venue's gardens and patio areas provide serene outdoor spaces for relaxation and celebration making it a wonderful venue for small and large weddings alike.

My Experience Filming There

There are a few areas I really love when it comes to filming at The Great Barn, and these are very much videography-focused. Firstly, that long driveway is a filmmaker's dream, elegant, sweeping, and the perfect excuse to get the drone up and capture some truly cinematic opening shots! It may be self-indulgent but I love the feel of this for an opener. The ceremony room is also a firm favourite, the rustic charm of the barn and the warm lighting make dreamy, romantic shots come easily.

And ladies, I have to say, the lighting in that makeup room is incredible! I can guarantee your bridal prep will look like something out of a movie, I'm pretty certain it's a little bit magical in there!
